Korea's Olive Young Kicks Off Black Friday Sale With Up to 60% Off

South Korean beauty retailer CJ Olive Young has opened "Olive Young Black Friday," its once-a-year November sale, with discounts of up to 60 percent.

The sale runs from Nov. 1 through Nov. 7 on Olive Young's online mall and in its stores. CJ Olive Young detailed the offers in an Oct. 30 post on its official Instagram account, which said the event includes discount coupons, special prices and free gifts both online and in stores.

Bestselling products carry weeklong special prices for the full event, and a separate set of one-day deals changes daily. At major brick-and-mortar locations, a program called "Last Pick" offers deeper markdowns on items that differ from store to store.

The company highlighted deals on Celimax The Vita-A Retinal Shot Tightening Booster, Bioderma Hydrabio Toner, 3CE Blur Water Tint and VDL Cover Stain Perfecting Foundation. The sale also includes an Olive Points earning event, curated wellness deals and "Olive Better Black Friday."

Brands sold at Olive Young also promoted their offers on their own accounts. Korean skin care brand Torriden said its Balanceful Control Serum is 31 percent off during the sale.

Isntree, another Korean skin care brand, listed its Onion line among its Black Friday offers.

Olive Young is also selling the Black Prize Box, a limited-quantity mystery box, on Nov. 1 and Nov. 7 only. The Type A box contains six or seven products and costs 29,900 won. The Type B box holds seven products and costs 6,900 won.

The company said the contents of the Type A box are worth 110,000 won and those of the Type B box are worth 30,000 won. Online sales begin at 10 a.m. local time, and in-store sales start when each store opens.

Olive Young plans a one-day "Special Drop" of the boxes in limited quantities on Nov. 4. Full schedules and terms are posted in the notices section of the Olive Young app.
